O- Obey His Commandments

img_5330“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Fahter, and I will love him and manifest myself to him”

– John 14:21

After we acknowledged the cornerstone of our mission, that we have been redeemed through Christ’s blood, we wanted the “O” to be a direct result of that truth. Obeying the Lord’s commandments comes after we have accepted the fact that our lives do not have meaning without the Cross. Now that we have our meaning it changes our actions, words and even thoughts while on Earth.

Joyful obedience is a difficult thing most times. The World, our Flesh and the Devil are all three simultaneously trying to attack the Lord’s authority by saying things like “surely He didn’t say you cannot eat from the Tree..” – Genesis 3 and “to you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will” – Luke 4:6-

Something we hear today is “If God really loved me, then he would want me to be happy and do what feels right”.. this is the Enemy trying to soften the commands that God gives us throughout the Bible by making them seem old/outdated/prude/boring/lame/etc.

However God’s way never steals joy from our lives. By following the commandments of the Bible it allows us to be examples to non-believers of what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is like. It keeps our minds clear to receive his Truth from His Word and disciplines us to grow in that Truth.

As we raise our children we want to be focused on encouraging Obedience. Our goal is to not simply have well-behaved children, but to encourage a lifestyle for each of them that will help them prosper.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers.; but his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, HE PROSPERS. The wicked are not so, but are like Chang that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish” – Psalms 1

We’ve tried it the World’s way, and it failed us every time. #RobertsForever has decided we will go Christ’s way, because He will never let us down.

be still and get busy.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Romans 8:18

Do not fear. Be still. Trust in our loving God.

God is LOVE, God is POWERFUL, God is GOOD.

We must look like fools to the rest of the world. Stand strong in the face of evil and pain so those around us wonder “what does this guy have that keeps him from ABSOLUTELY LOSING it?!?!?”

Four sweet girls went on to see their Heavenly Father last week. A father of four ended his life suddenly. Politicians seem to be on a quick course to destruction. Late term abortion is legal. Millions of people in 2016 don’t have access to clean water. Millions of children are in need of homes through adoption. Millions don’t get that option.

Why aren’t we freaking out more?

Because God has told us over and over again… Be still. Trust in Him. No matter how bad our life gets it will never be as bad as what Christ went through on Good Friday. The fact that we can call it GOOD Friday is a sign for us to stay strong. This is GOOD. God loves YOU. He has not forsaken you. He never will.

So do not fear. Do not be crippled with sadness. We mourn, but not like the rest of the world. Channel those emotions. Turn bad into good. get busy. There are thousands of people you will come in contact with in your life. You may be the only one who has ever asked them “do you have a faith?” or “can I tell you my story of redemption?“. It could save their life.

“Thoughts and Prayers” are important. But they are not enough. Here are ways we are called to respond in the time of crisis:

open your bible. read it. memorize scripture. be bold. ask people about their faith. encourage. teach. preach. love others. serve them. lead them. wash their feet. get busy explaining to this dark world how we still have faith in the face of tragedy, it might be the last thing you tell them.

(josh 1:8, 1 tim 4:13, john 15:7, prov 3:5-7, mark 16:15, john 13:14)

If you have recently experienced tragedy, pain, hurt or sadness and have not done the above things, we pray you start today. do not let pain in this life take away from your impact on God’s Kingdom for eternity.

“be still. my child. know that I Am God. Cast your worries and doubts upon me. For I hold your heart. Take courage, do not be afraid.”- Christina Semeria, 19, went to be with her Lord and Savior 4/27/16

2016- Colossians 3:17

Hello Friends! Happy 2016 to you!

This year is going to be HUGE for the Roberts clan. Baby Taves due in a few weeks, Blondie on Maternity leave for a few months, a growing R+F home business and many many more fun things are happening.

Everyone wants to talk about resolutions this time of year. Some have asked us what ours is. I think Todd < @wordsfromwags > said it best on Sunday when he told us not to worry about your YEAR resolution. Worry about today. Just Today. < Matthew 6:34 >

So our resolution today and everyday this year is this- To live in a way as a family that brings glory to Christ Jesus and points others to Him.

We believe that if this is our goal everyday, whether it’s the day Taves is born or the day Blondie goes back to work or when there is a tough deadline at work, the day cars both have a nail in a tire, someone we know gets sick, someone leaves to go meet the Lord.… no matter the circumstance if we make it our goal to live in a way that leads others to Christ, it will be the most successful year of our lives.

In order to do this we will need to be constantly in the Word. @Watermarkchurch has some great tools that we are excited to use and share with you this year. One of these is called Join the Journey < jointhejourney.com > PLEASE join us in reading God’s Word every day, ask us how we are keeping up, ask us questions! So that we may push toward our goal of living for Christ everyday. We need your help.

Please consider your resolution. Think about 2015, are you closer to God or further away than in 2014? What are you going to do about it? We would love to talk to you about it.

Please keep us in your prayers! These next 52 weeks are going to be a whirlwind!

Update 10.20.15

Y’all. First… we wanted to express our deepest thanks for the outpouring of love we experienced following our last post. Seriously thank you. Thank you. Thank you. We are so thankful for our community around us that our story has been able to help a few others find hope in this world.

Since our big announcement we have been BUSY. Went on a few trips, saw the beach, toured Chicago and now we are home and anxiously waiting for baby boy Roberts to be here in February.

Blondie and baby boy are both doing great. We can feel him in there dancing and he loves when we read to him.

Momma is working hard on R+F and KILLING IT. Seriously would not have been able to travel to Mexico or Chicago without R+F providing us with residual income. She still works 5 days a week too at her offices and is loving her patients these days… As long as they have been flossing.

As we enter into this nesting phase we ask you be praying for her heart and perseverance. We know it is not going to be easy but know that Christ will give Blondie the strength needed to get to February.

I (Jase) have started as a small group leader in Watermark’s Junior High ministry called WAKE. I am one of three leaders for a group of 14 6th grade boys. FOURTEEN. Any prayers you can throw out there for me and my guys would be much appreciated. So far it has been such a blessing. These guys are a fun-loving group and it melts my heart seeing them pursue the Lord together. Please pray for my heart as I lead these guys. They are making me press into the Word and Jesus and I am so thankful for them (an empty jar cannot pour into others very well).

Please join me in praying that I can be a full jar to pour into each of these guys! I have been praying over this verse as I prepare to go through life with them:

“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”

-Hebrew 13:7

We pray that I will have the knowledge to speak the word of God, that my life’s outcomes will reflect a life lived for Christ and my faith would be worth imitating. Please join us in that prayer.

We will be together all the way through their high school graduation… in for the long haul. Cannot wait to see what God has in store for these guys, they are destined for great things.

Thank you all for loving us so well! We want to share our walk with you, so we will be trying to update this more frequently!

I will leave you with this tidbit from my WAKE curriculum this week. I LOVE THIS. A simple question… Based on your life, what would someone say you “love”?

I know for me someone would first say Auburn, football, sports, Dave Matthews Band and then probably Cal and my faith. How backwards is that?

So what would people say you love? Are you okay with that being what defines you?

If you are a Christian, are you living every day for Jesus? Or are you living just like the non believer? If you were put on trial for being a Christian would they have enough evidence to convict you?

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

-Romans 12:2

Thank you for reading. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for praying for us.
